He Heals The Brokenhearted...

Today I am going to share my heart on a rather ugly subject but one that everyone faces sooner or later. They say that there are two things we must all experience: death and taxes. I'm not talking about taxes today...

Whether or not we like to talk about it or think about it, truth is, someone around you is facing this subject head on. Where can they go for comfort and solace? Most people look the other way when they see you coming. They are uncomfortable with your tears and your sorrow and don't know what to say. Some are afraid of saying the wrong thing. I know I have said the wrong thing many times.

It's true that people, even those in church, need us to have lite grief. Seriously folks, "lite grief"? No such thing. Each one going through the journey and the work of grief needs a safe place to go and be themselves and to be able to cry as much as they need to. In my grief groups I show a DVD called "Tear Soup" which explains this further.

Scientists did a study on tears. The participating group peeled onions till they cried and the scientist bottled these tears and analyzed them. The tears consisted of salt and water. This same group was later taken and shown a sad movie. Once again their tears were bottled and analyzed. This time the tears consisted of salt, water and a very toxic enzyme. You've heard of "keeping things bottled up"? People need to cry. That's why grief can turn on you and cause physical ailments.

God sees all our tears and is mindful of them. Psalm 147 says He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. If you want to be near God, find someone brokenhearted for the "Lord is near the brokenhearted". I Cor.15:26 says "The last enemy that will be destroyed is death". The Lord hates your sorrow and grief so much that he calls death an enemy. That enemy will be destroyed once and for all and God Himself shall wipe every tear from your eyes. The Maker of heaven and earth...the One who tells the oceans "this far and no more"... the One who gave His life to redeem you unto Himself will wipe the tears from your eyes and give you life everlasting.

Lord, I pray for those who are brokenhearted right now. Send your ministering angels to be near them and strengthen them. Give them someone whom they can feel safe with and walk with them on this journey. May they look to the future realizing that their loved one is not only part of their past but of their future as well. In Jesus' name, Amen.
